Theme 2026: “Mind the Gap”

Chair of the Jury — Mona Wallström (Sweden)

“Mind the gap!”

The phrase is heard at train stations around the world, reminding travellers of the space between the train and the platform. But beyond its literal meaning, it speaks of the gaps in our society — the distance between people, cultures, opportunities, or truths.

A gap can divide or connect. It can be a void, a window to new perspectives, or an opening for change. Sometimes, what separates us also invites us to think differently — to cross, to bridge, or to listen.

Falling into a gap can be a new beginning — or a mark of separation.

Mind the gap!
